Project Description


Dr. Maggie Patricianne Hurd Annual Scholarships—Open to 2019 graduating African American high school seniors accepted to a metro Atlanta area college or university or an African American undergraduate currently enrolled in a metro Atlanta college or university, graduating in Spring 2021 or later.  Applicants must have a major or intended major in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Two scholarships of $5000 each will be awarded.  Applications will be accepted April 15—September 15, 2020.

Review and Evaluation Process

Scholarship applications and supporting documents submitted to the Ivy & Roses Community Fund, Inc. are carefully reviewed by the Scholarship Committee to ensure criteria are met.  Applicants will be notified upon receipt of submission.  If additional information is required, a scholarship committee member will contact the applicant.  No phone calls or deliveries please.



  • Applicant must be an African American high school student graduating in Spring 2019 or currently enrolled college students graduating in Spring 2021 or later
  • Applicant must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicant must be accepted to or attend a metro Atlanta college
  • Applicant must major or intend to major in a STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Applicant must complete a narrative of no more than 250 words discussing how they will you their STEM education to make a positive impact in the community
