DR. MAGGIE PATRICIANNE HURD SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose: To provide financial support for African American high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students who possess a strong desire for academic excellence, leadership positions in student organizations, and plan on attending college in metro Atlanta in the Fall 2019 semester as a full-time student.

IRCF will award the Dr. Maggie Patricianne Hurd Annual Scholarship in the amount of $5,000 during the 2019-2020 academic year. Applications will be accepted April 1 through September 15, 2020.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be an African American high school student graduating in Spring 2019 or currently enrolled college students graduating in Spring 2020 or later
  • Applicant must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicant must be accepted to or attend a metro Atlanta college
  • Applicant must major or intend to major in a STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Applicant must complete a narrative of no more than 250 words discussing how they will you their STEM education to make a positive impact in the community
  • Applicant or family representative must receive award in person at the IRCF signature event
