DR. MAGGIE PATRICIANNE HURD SCHOLARSHIP

Founded in 2003, the mission of the Ivy & Roses Community Fund, Inc. is to provide resources for charitable, civic, and direct service programs. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to African American college students attending an HBCU and majoring in a STEM field of study. One scholarship award of $5,000 will be made in July 2024. Payment will be made directly to the scholarship recipient to support Fall 2024 tuition.

Qualifications
Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:

  • Full-time African-American college students enrolled at an accredited HBCU, who are in their Sophomore Year;
  • Majoring in a STEM field of study [Science, Technology, Engineering, Math];
  • GPA: 2.75 on a 4.0 scale;
  • Transcript (unofficial transcript accepted);
  • Submit 1 letter of recommendation from a department chair;
  • Submit 1 letter of recommendation from an instructor;
  • Submit one of two short essays (500-words) discussing the following:
    • How can a career in STEM drive social change?
    • How will I make a positive impact in the community through my STEM education and how will this scholarship assist me in doing so?
